
WHAT IS THE FREEDOM TO BREATHE ACT? Effective October 1, 2007, the Freedom to Breathe Act made all Minnesota workplaces smoke-free.” This includes bars and restaurants. It’s modeled after successful smoke-free laws in California, Delaware, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, Rhode Island and New York. The goal is to fully protect the right of people to breathe clean indoor air at work and in public places. Minnesota is the 20th state in the nation with a 100% smoke-free law.
